Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot water
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch (23cm) round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Add the hot water and mix again until well combined. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
